jessicarosaleen design logo-100

Today I have created a design logo for my Interior design brand. I will soon join an Etsy shop to try to generate revenue through my skill sets. I have always tended to keep my creative interests separate from working to make money and this is something that I would like to change now so that when I leave the course, I am ready to make money doing what I love.

The design for the logo is a dragonfly that has scales in a geometric honey comb pattern. The thinking behind it is childish nostalgia. I was always drawing butterflies at the same time I was drawing floor plans and wanted to design home interiors. In terms of design language, I feel that this motif works successfully on a small or large scale and equally it will work well in black and white.

My idea is to have a basic design that will be versatile. If I am working on a particular project that has a strong design I can incorporate the aesthetics of it into the honey comb scales. This would also work for collaborations with other designers and brands whose logo/identity houses a pattern or particular colour: e.g Cadbury’s purple, Tiffany’s mint, Coca-Cola red, McDonald’s yellow, Facebook blue.  I also like the fact that it is something that can grow with me and endure modernisation and adaptation through slight tweaks here and there.
